WOW you guys! We did it! We opened our second shop!
The story goes like this....
We closed our shop in Denver a few years ago. It was a very hard decision but one of us moved to Michigan so it had to happen (Sorry Ang!).
And now we've got a problem... or so we thought.
2 sisters. One business. 1000 miles apart.
So, we continued to work together but this time through email, phone calls, texts. We both did markets just separately, in different states. We hopped flights when we could get cheap tickets so that one could join the other for markets, photo shoots and that one rare interview about women entrepreneurs and slow fashion. After 6 months of being closed we finally decided it was time to go online with our wares and ukamarket.com was born.
We did this for a little over 2 years and something fell into our laps. The cutest little shop space in an old honey factory in one of the most adorable little towns.... Milford, Michigan. It was one of those things that just happens, you can't overthink it you just go with your gut. If you know us, you know that most of our decisions are from the gut. Works for us, maybe not always... but mostly.
We have been open for a total of 1 day so far. 1 very wonderful opening day. We had the warmest welcome we could've asked for. We are grateful.
We love this place. The energy is incredible. The vibes are amazing. It smells of essential oils from our hand poured candles and the little diffuser we've got running. The floors? They're wood. So you know that old house creaky wood floor sound? Yep, we've got that. We love it here.
So here I am, one half of Uka, in the new shop. Blogging about our new adventure and wishing my sister was here to proofread, edit, and completely rework most of this babble.
I will see you in a month my love, maybe then you can get to editing.
Cheers to a new adventure and we hope you come visit us either in Milford, Michigan or at one of our many markets in Colorado this spring/summer.
Love + hugs,
We are located at
